Japanese vs English Pokemon sealed product
How Japanese and other international Pokemon sets differ from English ones, and what to know before you collect them.
Pokemon cards are printed in many languages, and sets do not always line up one to one. Japanese sets usually come out first and are later combined or reworked into the English releases.
What differs
- Set structure: several Japanese sets can become one English set, and some Japanese sets never get an English version.
- Packaging: Japanese booster packs hold fewer cards and boxes hold fewer packs than English ones.
- Other languages: Korean, Chinese, Thai, Indonesian and European languages each have their own releases and product lines.

Chests, products and sets can be filtered by language. Non-English chests carry a badge such as JP or KR so you know what you are ripping.
